About Lucid

Originally from Southern California, I’ve always spent a lot of time outdoors. I moved to Kerrville, Texas in the fall of 2024 and got my hands on some camera equipment. A few walks along the Guadalupe River and the rest is history.

South-Central Texas has incredibly diverse ecosystems that are home to so much wildlife. There are a lot of critters here. It’s gorgeous with it’s ancient bald cypress trees, huge sycamores, elms and sprawling live oak trees that drip with Spanish moss. With the Guadalupe River and spring-fed creeks, it’s shockingly green in the spring and summer.

For years I was a newspaper journalist, then an English teacher. These days I work remotely in product marketing for EdTech and contribute to The Kerr County Lead digital news coverage as a writer and photographer.

With The Lead, I covered the July 4 flood, spending weeks walking the river, photographing and documenting the aftermath. I continued coverage after returning to work as well. It was a difficult, devastating experience. Months later, I started walking the river again, this time photographing the return of wildlife and recovery efforts. It has helped.

Lucid came after. There’s so much history right under our feet, still happening now. I find it endlessly interesting.
