Bald Eagle Sighting

Thanks to a heads-up from my friend Tommy, another budding bird and critter photographer, I knew there was at least one bald eagle in the area. I still can’t believe I caught at least one of the two I spotted the next day, February 27.

Near the dam at Nimitz Lake, I caught sight of two of them through the trees. After nearly falling into the lake trying to shoot between the branches, I gave up and hustled to the dam. I could only see one at that point and it was high in the sky. A few quick circles, then he went west.

Two and a half weeks later, not a sighting from anyone. I’ve heard they often nest in West Kerr, in the cliff faces above the river. I’m not sure that’ll be the case this year after the flood damage but it’s possible. In any case, I think these two likely scoped out the area here in Kerrville but moved on to a different spot. Or they’re nearby but super stealthy. Unlikely since they’re hard to miss but anything’s possible, right?
