Goslings glow-up

FIELD NOTE

January 29, 2026—Kerrville, Texas

Last night, I ended up back near the river where I spotted the terrifying and cute Egyptian goslings, a little more than three weeks ago. Guess who’s growing up and glowing up? No longer terrifying, the goslings have transitioned into adorable young ducks.

The juvenile Egyptian goose is pretty cute. Even the eyes are still a pretty brown. The red-eyed stare is yet to come.

The youths were fine with my visit. Mom and Dad were not.

They made their feelings well known with a lot of noise. But at least no one charged or dive bombed me.

Angry Mom (or Dad?) ready to throw down.

The reaction is understandable, even though I tried telling them to chill out so I could just take a few quick pics.

Unfortunately, Egyptian goose parents have no chill, so shot pics and ran.
